1: Jurys Inn � 229 rooms

Opened in June 2009, this is Swindon�s first hotel with more than 200 rooms. It also has a �contemporary restaurant�, coffee bar and seven meeting rooms. It is built on the site of a former car showroom and, before that, a canalside mill (the canal having long since gone).

2: The Hilton Swindon � 171 rooms

Opened in 1994, the Hilton is a stone�s throw from junction 16 of the M4. It has 15 meeting rooms, which cater for groups of up to 400 people. The hotel also has a health club with a fitness room and spa pool, a sauna and steam room, and an indoor heated swimming pool.

3: The Swindon Marriott � 156 rooms

The closest large hotel to Swindon�s historic Old Town, the Marriott has nine meeting rooms, a fitness centre, on-site tennis and swimming pool, and even a resident hairdresser. Its 156 rooms include three suites. The hotel first opened in 1988.

4: De Vere � 152 rooms

Part of a leisure park that also includes a multi-screen cinema, ten-pin bowling alley and bars, the De Vere first opened in 1992. It incorporates the De Vere Leisure Club, which includes a heated pool and spa, and the complex also has a Health and Beauty Suite.

5: Express by Holiday Inn � 134 rooms

Opened in 2001, the Express by Holiday Inn is next to Swindon�s historic Railway Village. The hotel has its own restaurant and meeting facilities for up to 50 people.

6: Holiday Inn Express � 121 rooms

A �contemporary, value-for-money� hotel, alongside junction 16 of the M4, opened in 2001 and refurbished in 2008. There are also conference and meeting facilities.

7: Campanile � 120 rooms

Formerly the Ibis Hotel, the Campanile is a short walk from the Delta Tennis Centre, which was opened by Princess Diana in 1989. The hotel has its own restaurant, with seating for up to 50 people.

8: Alexandra House Conference Centre � 118 rooms

Located on an estate of 20 acres, which was formerly the site of the RAF�s Princess Alexandra Hospital, the conference centre has 25 meeting rooms, which accommodate up to 240 people. There is a heated indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room, fitness centre, outdoor all-weather tennis court and an aerobics studio.

9: Best Western Premier Blunsdon House Hotel � 117 rooms

First opened as a modest B&B in 1957, which became a licensed country club in 1960, and then a fully licensed hotel in 1962, Blunsdon House is now a four-star hotel, but is still owned by the Clifford family which first opened it. Facilties include 10 conference rooms, a leisure club with two gymnasiums and heated indoor swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and even its own nine-hole par three golf course.
